Position Overview:

Challenger Geomatics has an opening for a land surveying Survey Party Chief based in Edmonton with the ability and willingness to work out of town. The Survey Party Chief collects data in the field and works with our experienced project managers on a variety of survey assignments.

Candidates should have a willingness to travel to where the work is. You will have the chance to work on different types of projects and grow your career through participation in our training and development programs.

General Responsibilities:

  • Completes field surveys and works closely with the Project Manager to ensure all client objectives are met.
  • Provides necessary documentation to office staff including any field notes, computations, and other survey data.
  • Communicates effectively with team members and ensures tasks are completed on time.
  • Performs all health and safety duties as identified in the company’s safety procedures.
  • Skilled with the use of survey equipment (GPS/GNSS Rovers, Total Stations, Locators, etc.) and ensures all company equipment and vehicles are properly operated and maintained.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Geomatics or related discipline as well as previous survey experience.
  • Experience in the energy sector or construction is an asset
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Any valid safety certificates an asset (i.e. H2S, First Aid, CSTS, Wildlife Awareness)
  • Physical fitness - party chief's work outside in tough conditions, often carrying equipment long distances
